CHAPTER FOUR: I GOT SOME FRUIT BY THE FOOT IF YOU WANNA COME OVER

AWSTEN WAS ON FIRE. HE shifted in the passenger seat so he could cup Marcy's cheek in his hand. Maybe it was cliché, but kissing her made him feel like he'd never kissed anyone before.

  "I'm gonna take a guess and say this was a good date," Awsten chuckled once the kiss broke. Marcy bit her lip as Awsten continued. "Can I take you on a second one?"

  "I'd like that," she said, holding back a smile.

  There was a small pause before Awsten said, "I guess I'll see you then." He opened the car door, and Marcy stopped him.

  "Awsten, wait." She tugged him back into the car, but only for a second or two, just enough time to give him one last kiss.

  Awsten walked away from the car with his cheeks bright red and a little more pep in his step than he had at the start of the day.

i guess it's my turn to plan our date huh, Marcy texted a few hours later.

  I guess it is, Awsten responded quickly. I am pretty rich and famous though as I said, so I could plan it if you want, and, I'll get us into a pretty rich fancy club, we can do some cocaine.

  Marcy couldn't tell if it was a joke or not, she guessed it probably was. And it was confirmed when he said, I'm sorry, that was a joke, I'm not funny when I'm nervous.

  Nervous. He was nervous. Nervous around her. When she saw Awsten had texted, Marcy?, she was snapped back to reality.

  sorry, she quickly said. just thinking about what we could do

  We could watch a movie

  i thought i was the one planning this date

  There was a pause in the conversation as Marcy continued to try and decide what they could possibly do. we COULD watch a movie if you want

  I live in LA, he explained. He sent the address of his building, and when she put it into Maps, it was only about 20-25 minutes away. Just staying with Stick for the weekend. Monday or Tuesday you could drive over to my place and we could watch something.

  i have to work monday night, but maybe tuesday? There was a knock at her apartment door, so Marcy texted, brb, someone's at my door

  When she looked through the peephole and opened the door, "Opal," she smiled.

  "Okay, tell me everything," her best friend said, pushing past Marcy and into the apartment. "How did the date go?"

  Marcy had told Opal about the date in between getting ready and picking up Awsten. "I kissed him."

  Opal gasped. "Is he a good kisser?"

  The girls sat down on the couch and Marcy pulled her phone back out of her pocket. "Yeah. We're going on a second date, we're kind of planning it right now."

  She opened her phone to three messages from Awsten: Hopefully by then my lmaps will be here.

  I ordered some and they tried to scam me I think, not really sure. They still haven't showed up, so I had to email them., and finally, They can change colors, they're pretty cool.

  "Have you heard from Nick?" Opal's voice came from the kitchen, Marcy hadn't even realized she'd gotten up. "Since the party, I mean."

  "Nah, have you?"

  "I've been cleaning, and he and Stick were supposed to help me. Only Stick showed up. He brought his friends though. Otto and De'Wayne. They're kind of cute."

  "Maybe he's sleeping." Marcy bit her fingernail as she responded to Awsten. sorry, opal came over, had to let her in, and, lights sound cool. how about you pick a movie and i'll bring food

  You like fruit roll ups?

  what am i, twelve?

  "Marce, Marcy." Opal snapped her fingers in front of her face. "You alive in there?"

  "Yeah, sorry, texting Awsten. What did you say?"

  "I said do you wanna go get some lunch? A burger place just opened up by my house."

  She got up from the couch. "Yeah, let's go."

  She looked at her phone one last time before slipping it into her pocket. One text from Awsten, Good thing I just bought some then.

Meanwhile, Nick had just woken up. He opened his phone and saw multiple texts from Opal. Shit, he'd forgotten he was supposed to help her clean up from the party.

  sorry, he texted her. slept late

  After closing the iMessage tab, he noticed his notes app was open. He didn't remember what he'd written last night, and when he opened it, FIND A MOVIE TO SEE WITH MARCY ON TUESDAY

  Oh yeah, they'd planned that last night. Cool. So he opened Safari, and typed it, new movies in theaters
